Shaping in the Waiting

Do you hate waiting? Are you impatient?

In this fast-paced world, we often want to get things done right away. Let's learn from David, who wrote many times about the importance of waiting on God. From the time Samuel anointed him as king, he spent several years running for his life from King Saul.

Modern commentaries estimate that he was about 15 years old when Samuel anointed him (1 Samuel 16:13). When he was about 30, the tribe of Judah anointed him to reign over them (2 Samuel 2:4). After more than seven years the remaining tribes of Israel acknowledged him as the sole king (2 Samuel 5:3).

Those years of waiting were years of shaping. When he was ready, David entered into his destiny and place of anointing to become one of the greatest rulers who ever lived. More importantly, he became a man after God's own heart.

Are you tempted to decide hastily on a major issue at hand? Seek the Lord's guidance and wait on Him. He will lead you if you are willing to wait and listen.

In this time of waiting, allow God to shape you, prepare you, and equip you. Be the best where you are now, and you will go to the next level a better person ready to face bigger challenges.

"Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD." ~ Psalm 27:14 NASB

Dear God, it's not easy to wait. Give me the heart and the patience to intently seek You with all of me, and not go ahead of Your timing. I acknowledge that Your timing is always perfect. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
